-British fell out of favour with the Jews and the Arabs
-Jews started a Zionist movement to get their homeland

-Jews had their own country (Israel) but the Arabs are angry
-Israel split up many Arab regions
-Jews & leader David Ben-Gurion attack Arab nations 1 day after Israel's formation
-had very good weaponry (army/navy) and intelligence
-Jews win (which was unlikely) and force Arabs to retreat
-Israel increased its territory
-many Palestinians become refugees
-Palestinians begin terrorist attacks within Israel
-Jews & Palestinians begin major conflict that continues for almost 50 years
